Kirra Rose Sim, 19, died in September when her car collided with a truck on Hermitage Road, Marong.
In an obituary published by the Bendigo Advertiser, Kirra’s family remembered her as a bright, bubbly and caring girl with a passion for cars. More than 600 people are expected to share in Kirra’s interest in cars this weekend, and honour her life when the Cruise for Kirra Sim rolls into town.
The event leaves Cranbourne tomorrow morning and is scheduled to arrive at the Bendigo Stadium about 2pm. Kirra’s friend Jackie Viney said money raised by the cruise would be donated to the Sim family. “It will be given to the family to cover the cost of the funeral,” Ms Viney said.
“The event is on Facebook and there’s been a great response.”
Ms Viney said at the completion of the cruise all the participating cars would park at the Bendigo Stadium for a Show ‘n’ Shine.
The Facebook page, Cruise for Kirra Sim, was abuzz with chatter about the event yesterday with some people showing off photos of their cars which had been fitted with purple lights ready for the cruise.
Kirra’s brother Trent said the event was organised by his sister’s friends. “I have no idea how much it’s going to make but anything will be great,” he said.
