The event, which features on the Good Beer Week calendar, will be catered for by local boutique eateries El Gordo, Bouchon and La Piazza.

Guests will be treated to a progressive menu served in three-course sections, which includes Spanish style tapas, French beef bourguignon and a family recipe, Italian espresso chocolate tart. A carefully matched craft brew will accompany each course.

However, it’s not the food that has people talking. It’s the beer.

Bendigo in recent months has gone craft beer mad, according to Bendigo Beer co-founders Trevor Birks and Justin McPhail.

“The response we’ve had from the Bendigo public has been amazing,” Mr Birks said.

He said this was the first year the Good Beer Week event had come to regional Victoria and Bendigo had grown to become a beer-lovers destination.

“Twelve months ago we were known as a craft beer desert,” he said.

“In the last 12 months with the number of venues in town that have decided to try something different and support Australian craft breweries, it’s just exploded.

“The Dispensary’s Beer and Breakfast has sold out, as has the Whole Beast Feast at Goldmines and we only have a few tickets left for our progressive dinner tonight.”

The dinner kicks off at 7pm tonight at El Gordo, located in Chancery Lane, Bendigo.
