In an effort to prepare the historic railway goods shed which houses the centre, Discovery is calling on volunteers to help at a working be on Friday, February 4, and Saturday, February 5, from 10am.
"We've done working bees in the past and they've always been a hugely successful, fun day for everyone involved," Discovery manager Alissa Van Soest said.
"This one feels extra special because we're not just preparing for a new year, but also for an experience that's never been to Bendigo before."
Volunteers can be of all all abilities and interests with any time that can spent sprucing up the centre being greatly appreciated.
Da Vinci's Machines will be at Discovery from March to June next year and feature a large collection of expertly created life-size machines meticulously built from Da Vinci's original sketches.
The exhibition comes from The Artisans of Florence, a group that has produced and manages the largest travelling exhibition of Da Vinci's inventions.
The Discovery Centre working bee is on between 10am and 7pm on Friday, February 4, and 10am and 4pm on Saturday February 5.
