The Jets' tally of 6-166 batting first proved well beyond the Demons, who were restricted to just 8-91 in reply.

Marquee player Taylor Beard (40), Pat Felmingham (33), opener Tim Wood (29) and captain Ben Devanny (29) - who all scored at better than a run-a-ball - combined for the bulk of the runs for the Jets.

The Jets' innings included a 61-run second wicket-partnership between the aggressive pair of Wood and Felmingham.

Jack Bourke (2-24) and Nick Wallace (2-34) took two wickets each for the Demons, who found runs much harder to come by than the Jets in their chase.

While the Jets scored at 8.3 runs per over, the Demons' run-rate was just 4.5 as they grinded their way to 8-91 against the disciplined Strathfieldsaye attack.

Wickets tumbled regularly throughout the White Hills innings, with five of the Demons' top six all dismissed for single figures.

Jed Rodda (1-9 off 4) tied the Demons down with four economical overs, while the trio of Chathura Damith (1-14), Savith Priyan (1-15) and Beard (0-17) combined for 2-46 off their 12 overs.

The victory gives the Jets two wins and a draw from their three games so far, while the Demons are now 0-2 and out of contention.

* In Wednesday night's other game, ball dominated bat in Golden Square's three-wicket win over Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park.

Eaglehawk was on the ropes early at 3-9 batting first with Russell Stockdale (3), Angus Chisholm (2) and Ben Williams (9) dismissed before clawing its way to 6-95.

The Hawks' fightback was led by Josh Williams (34) and Nash Viney (23), who added a much-needed 41 for the fourth wicket.

The new-ball pair of coach Liam Smith (2-9 off 4) and captain Scott Trollope (2-16 off 4) both set the tone for the Bulldogs, who in reply needed 19 overs to answer with 7-96 to get over the line by three wickets and win their first game of the tournament.

As they were with the ball, Smith (27) and Trollope (21) were also the best with the bat for the Bulldogs.

Leg-spinner Stockdale produced the outstanding figures of 2-5 off four overs for the Hawks, which included a rare two maidens.

"It was good bowling from both sides... the wicket was awesome and had really good pace in it," Bulldogs' coach Smith said.

"Trolly (Trollope) was getting some really good carry through to Hocko (wicket-keeper Riley Hocking), who was standing a fair way back.

"We bowled in really good areas and were able to tie them down and our innings was similar in that Eaglehawk also bowled well and made it hard for us."

Sent into bat, the Panthers compiled 6-166 led by half-centuries to marquee player Brent Hamblin (57) and Alex Gorrie (53), with both hitting two sixes in their innings.

Having one stage been 5-135 in reply, the Rangas lost 5-25 to be bowled out for 160 in the 19^th over, with marquee player Ben Devanny top-scoring with 32.

Devanny's 32 off just 15 balls included four sixes, while Gorrie completed a strong all-round game for the Panthers by taking 4-21 off three overs.
