Christian Anthony Sales, 43, of Maryborough, accused the victim of overcharging him before assaulting the man and stealing boxes of snacks.

The court heard on Tuesday that Sales wished to plead guilty to both an armed robbery charge in relation to the offence which occurred on October 12, 2020 and cannabis possession.

Documents held by the court show that Sales had been buying protein bars online from the victim for about a month in lead up to the incident and the victim had been personally home delivering the items.

There had been an agreement between the pair the victim would offer all the protein bars he could procure to Sales first, before selling any remaining bars to other buyers through Facebook Marketplace.

However, on October 12, 2020, when he went to Sales's address in Maryborough to offer him more bars, he was accused of ripping him off.

The court was told that Sales behaved aggressively and was wearing a belt with a hunting knife at the time and the victim felt intimidated.

The victim tried to explain that the price was fair and offered Sales some free products to defuse the situation.

Sales removed a taser from his belt, activated it and demanded that the victim give him all the protein bars he had in his car.

He also made threats against the man and his family. The victim handed over all of the protein bars and, upon departing the residence, drove to Maryborough Police Station and reported the event. The value of the protein bars which were taken was about $280.

The court documents stated that police executed a search warrant at the premises the following morning and located 14 protein bar boxes, cannabis and a taser.

The case will come before the court again on Friday, February 4.
