MOAMA WATER Sports Club has announced the new dates for the 2022 Southern 80.
The iconic water skiing event on the Murray River that is traditionally held on the second week of February will go ahead from May 13-15 in 2022.
It was postponed around two weeks ago after recommendations from emergency services in both New South Wales and Victoria due to ongoing pressure from COVID-19.
The historic race that was first held in 1965 attracts hundreds of competitors from across the country to the Murray River between Torrumbarry and Echuca.
The race is recognised as one of the most challenging in the country due to the numerous bends and narrow width of the course set up.
Moama Water Sports Club will begin confirming entries with competitors and engage with emergency services for any further planning.
The 2022 running of the Southern 80 marks the first time it's been held since 2020.
