Firefighters have marked a fire that was burning out of control "safe".
A "watch and act" message issued by the CFA remains in place.

A blaze is burning out of control in Taradale.
Seven appliances are on scene including air support and CFA crews from Elphinstone, Malmsbury, Metcalfe and Taradale.
V-Line trains were initially stopped however are now continuing at reduced speed through the area.
A watch and act warning has been issued for the area advising residents to continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.

- Monitor changes, including increased wind speed, change in wind direction, smoke or poor visibility that indicates the situation is changing.

Firefighters have issued a "watch and act" warning after a grass fire erupted near Taradale this afternoon.
The fire is understood to be traveling south, not in the direction of a train line connecting Bendigo and Melbourne.
"There is no immediate threat to the community and no action is required," firefighters say.

This Community Information is being issued for Elphinstone, Malmsbury, Metcalfe, Taradale.
There is a grassfire at Metcalfe-Taradale Rd, Taradale.
Smoke may be visible from nearby roads.
- Firefighters are responding to this fire.
- There is no immediate threat to the community and no action is required.

A FIRE is burning near a train line in the Taradale area as emergency crews race to bring it under control.
It is not clear which direction the fire is burning in.
The fire is burning 1.3km away from the small central Victorian town, near the Taradale-Metcalf Road.
A passenger train line connecting Bendigo to Melbourne passes through the area.
At least seven firefighting crews are en route or on scene including in helicopters.
