Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding crash.

Police believe a Ford Ranger travelling along the Murray Valley Highway crashed into the rear of a Mitsubishi Triton at the intersection of Farley Road about 2pm.
Sadly, the driver of the Triton, a 29-year-old woman died at the scene.
Her passenger, a 24-year-old Altona Meadows woman has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford Ranger a 29-year-old Patho woman has been taken to hospital for treatment and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined and investigations continue.
Running until midnight Wednesday, police anticipate significant road activity as Victorians travel to regional areas, social gatherings and the beach.
