
PLENTY of records were broken as Athletics Bendigo Region hosted the eighth round of AVSL track and field action on Saturday night.
Best known for her medal-winning feats at high jump, Eaglehawk's Denise Snyder broke three records in the pre-veteran class.

Snyder ran the 100m hurdles in 16.86 seconds, the 100m dash in 14.06 seconds, and later reached 10.65m at triple jump.
Bendigo Harriers' veterans Anne Buckley and Hunter Gill broke or set records in the 2000m steeplechase.
Buckley clocked a time of 9:22.21 to set a 50-plus record in the gruelling event.
Gill's time of 11:12.98 set a Bendigo record for the 70-plus class.

Two weeks after being Victoria's best in the 50-plus heptathlon at the Victorian multi-event titles, South Bendigo's Trudy Haines broke her 50-plus record in the 80m hurdles as she charged to the line in 16.84 seconds.
Later in the night Haines led off for South Bendigo's 50-plus team in the 4 x 400m relay.
The team of Haines, Carol Coad, Jackie Guillou and Debby Kirne ran a great time of 5:46.98 to set a Bendigo Centre record.

The Bloods earned 18 points through the Powerplay as Wyndham led the way on 25,006.
Bendigo Harriers continued their great run in division two on 22,021 to be third in Saturday's standings.
In premier division, Eaglehawk was runner-up to Essendon as they scored 42,783 and 34,001 respectively.
The fourth-placed Doncaster scored 29,165 and earned 14 premiership points through the PowerPlay.
Bendigo University was fourth in division five as Williamstown, Ivanhoe and Deakin led the way.
Other highlights of the meet run at the Retreat Road complex in Flora Hill included the javelin duel between Alex and Xavier Pitt.
Both are members of Albury Athletics, but regularly make the trek south to Bendigo to compete.

At Saturday's meet, Alex hit a mark of 46.22m as younger brother Xavier reached 46.13m to be runner-up.
Other athletes to excel included Bendigo Harriers' Jake and Monique Gavriliadis at shot put, and Jorja Hill at javelin; Eaglehawk's Dude Kelly and Cameron Smith at triple jump, and Andrea Archibald, 100m; and South Bendigo's Jennifer Payne, 1500m walk.
Although it was a non-scoring event, the first of the women's 400m heats was a classic finish.
Eaglehawk's Scarlett Southern, 1:00.09, held off South Bendigo's Belle Guillou, 1:01.40, and Laura Kadri, 1:01.50 from the Hawks.
