THE Bendigo Police and United Cricket Club will honour the memory of Andrew Steel when they play for a trophy named after him in a Twenty20 game on Tuesday night.

The match at Ewing Park is being played to raise money for the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation, as well as honouring former Bendigo Senior Constable Steel, who died in 2018 following a battle with illness.

Bendigo Police Leading Senior Constable Andrew Pritchard said it was an annual event that many officers looked forward to each year.
"It's important to raise money for the foundation and all the money raised does go towards the local foundation and it will stay local," he said.

"It will be used to buy life-saving equipment for hospitals in the local area and it's a really good way to see money contributed to the foundation to be injected back into the community."
Tuesday night's game starts at 5.30pm. BBQ and drinks will be available and has been supported by the Flora Hill Bakery, Butcher, Sportspower Bendigo and also United Cricket Club.
