The 2022 EasyTow Malibu Australian Masters hosted by the Bridgewater Water Ski Club included three competition categories - jump, slalom and trick - across several different age groups.
Tournament chief judge Anthea Collicoat said the tournament provided skiers with an opportunity to return to competition.
"It was great to have such a big tournament which included so many water skiers from interstate," Collicoat said.
In total there were 51 competitors in action across the three-day tournament.
Collicoat said the field included a strong mixture of skiers.
"We had some competitors as young as 11 all the way through to 75, in addition to two disabled divisions," she said.
Each year all competitors are in the running to receive the prestigious Glenn Thurlow Trophy which is presented to the tournament's overall most outstanding skier.
NEWS:
One of the tournament's youngest entries in Kristy Appleton, 14, was the recipient for 2022.
Appleton outclassed her competitors across all three slalom, trick and jump categories on her way to winning the award.
At only 14 years of age, it makes Appleton one of the youngest winners in the trophy's history.
"Kristy's jumps are only two metres off the under-14 record and she is not far at all off breaking it," Collicoat said.
The long-standing event has been run by the Bridgewater Water Ski Club since 2004 and has proven a popular mainstay of the region's sporting calendar.
Formed in 1960, the Bridgewater Water Ski Club is one of the oldest water ski clubs in Australia.
Recently one of the club's members in Jason Sleep was named as the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation Disabled Athlete of the Year (2021).
