Just like it did in round two when they tied, the clash between first and second again delivered as the Steamers prevailed 72-69 at Eaglehawk.
Both teams won two rinks apiece, with the biggest winning margin across the four contests being the six shots Moama's Barry Brennan beat the Hawks' Darren Burgess by (20-14).
The game featured a battle of two of the competition's top-performing rinks, with the Hawks' Marc Smith edging out Kevin Brennan 19-17.
* Golden Square pulled off a big upset at home as it consigned reigning premier South Bendigo to a third-consecutive loss.
Square won 93-76 and in doing so cost South Bendigo its position in the top four.
The two keys to Golden Square's victory were double-figure wins by the rinks of Travis Berry (+16) and John Berry (+11).
In what was a pivotal victory, it moved Golden Square to within 10 points of the top four as it continues to hunt its first finals berth since 2015-16.
* Bendigo East worked its way back into the top four after defeating Kangaroo Flat by two shots.
A week after becoming the first team to beat Moama, the Roos were unable to back up their performance as they went down 80-78 at home to the Beasties, who won three of the four rinks.
* And Inglewood collected all 18 points from its trip to Castlemaine, winning 91-67.
It was the first time the Woodies had won all four rinks since round three of the 2016-17 season, which was also against Castlemaine.
