Bendigo's round will be a twilight meet from 6.30pm at the Retreat Road complex.
Across seven rounds, South Bendigo has scored 41 points to be seventh on the division two ladder.
The Bloods will be fired up for several reasons.
Competition will be a day after the funeral service for Ron Nancarrow, a well-known field and walks competitor for South Bendigo AC and a life member of the Bloods and Athletics Bendigo.
The Bloods will be keen to perform well in the lead-up to the St Anne's Vineyards-backed country champs in Bendigo on January 28 to 30.
South Bendigo is desperate to climb into the top four.
Key members of South Bendigo's squad include Emma Berg, Joan Self, Carol Coad, Aaron Norton, Abbey Hromenko, Greg Hilson, Naomi Henderson, Allie and Belle Guillou, Trudy Haines, Debby Kirne, Jennifer Payne, Keely Trew, Amber Fox, Kellie Doering, Jasper Seymour, Chris Timewell and Leigh Browell.
The meet will mark the return of Nigel Self and Josh Pickthall in the 100m.
Both are running on invitation basis.
Division two is led by Western Athletics 73, and Bendigo Harriers 64.
Next best are Sandringham 50, Keilor St Bernards 48, Ballarat Harriers 43, South Bendigo 41, Mornington 40, Wyndham 38, Eureka 22, and Ringwood on eight.
In premier division, Eaglehawk is third on 67 points.
The Hawks have done extremely well against powerful metro clubs Essendon, 77 points, and Diamond Valley, 68.
Other clubs in the top flight of AVSL are Glenhuntly 61, Doncaster 38, Chilwell 35, Box Hill 34, Collingwood 31, Nunawading 15, and Geelong Guild 11.
In division five, Bendigo University has climbed to the fourth rung on 48 points.
Uni Pride is up against Williamstown 86, Ivanhoe 79, and Maccabi 66.
Clubs putting the pressure on Uni are South Coast 47, and Deakin 45.
Track events in Saturday's round of AVSL are sprint hurdles, 1500m or 3000m walk, 100m, 1500m, mixed 4 x 400m relay, 2000m or 3000m steeplechase.
Non-scoring 400m heats will also be run.
A big field program includes pole vault, javelin, shot put, and triple jump.
