Bowling shaped as a potential issue for the Hawks going into the season given the departures of former skipper Cory Jacobs and Richard Tibbett.
Yet it has been anything but for the fourth-placed Hawks, who are the No.1 ranked side with the ball and have had one of either skipper Nick Farley, leg-spinner Russell Stockdale or Aaron Monro take at least three wickets in every game so far.
Batting has been solid apart from being bowled out for 136 against Strathfieldsaye in round four.

A 3-3 split for the Goers has them one game outside the top four, but have a testing month coming up with matches against Strathfieldsaye (3rd), Bendigo United (2nd) and Eaglehawk (4th) among their next four.
The Goers' season reads LWLWLW, so going to need to find some winning consistency over the next 10 rounds if they are to be a chance of giving themselves a look at playing finals.
An encouraging sign for the Goers was the knock of star all-rounder Kyle Humphrys (99 n.o. vs Huntly-North Epsom) in the last game before the break.

Season started on a high with a dramatic last-ball win against Huntly-North Epsom, but it has been hard yards for the Bulldogs since, going 1-4 in their last five games.
Been held to scores of 162 or less in their four defeats, while it has been a rollercoaster of a season with the bat for skipper Liam Smith, whose six trips to the crease include a pair of scores in the 60s (63 n.o. and 65), plus three ducks.

Much like Kangaroo Flat, it has been a dramatic slide down the ladder for the Power, who resume the season as the only team yet to win a game following three years of contending.
The Power don't need any reminding of the fine lines in a game of cricket having suffered two last-ball losses against Golden Square in round one and Strathfieldsaye in round five.
