BENDIGO'S Kelly Wilson has finally become the first player to reach 400 games in the WNBL after her Canberra Capitals returned to the court on Friday night against Perth.
On what was a historic night for the competition, the Lynx spoiled Wilson's milestone game with an 88-69 win in Canberra.
For Wilson - who has played more than half her 400 WNBL games with the Bendigo Spirit - her milestone match finally came nine days after it was originally meant to be played, but was continually put on hold as COVID protocols wreaked havoc on the WNBL fixture.
"It has been a long couple of weeks and it's fair to say it wasn't necessarily the game I was hoping for with the result," Wilson said on Saturday.
"But after having a couple of weeks off I'm just glad we're back playing again."

Wilson, 37, finished with five points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in her milestone game in which the Capitals were forced to play catch-up after the Lynx burst out to a 31-13 lead at quarter-time.
"It was a struggle all night; when you get 20 points down in the first quarter it's obviously going to be tough," Wilson said.
"Full credit to Perth; they blew us out of the water in the first quarter and they showed us why they are one of the favourites for this season."
Friday night's loss leaves the Capitals with a 3-2 record from their five games.
Meanwhile, at this stage in what's a constantly evolving WNBL fixture, the Bendigo Spirit's next game is slated for this Friday night at home against Townsville.
