Heading into Wednesday night's meeting at Bendigo's Lord's Raceway, trainer Julie Douglas has notched nine wins for the season in 11 days.
Those wins have come on the back of a brilliant 2021 season in which the stable produced 184 winners and 266 minor placings for earnings of $1,651,760, placing Douglas second on the state trainer's premiership standings.
Only Emma Stewart (197) trained more winners on Victorian tracks during the 2021 season.
The next best performed among Bendigo trainers was Kate Hargreaves, who finished fifth in the state with 91 winners, and Alex Ashwood, who was sixth on 62.
The Douglas stable continued its solid early-season form at Swan Hill on Tuesday night with a win by Captain Confetti.
A former New Zealander, like many of the Douglases' current crop, Captain Confetti notched up his sixth career win in 27 starts, and was driven by Charlton youngster Abby Sanderson.
The win gave the stable at least one winner on four consecutive days, following hot on the heels of the four-year-old mare Miss Tyler's victory at Maryborough on Monday, Rocco Americano at Cobram on Sunday, and stable favourite Bernie Winkle on Bendigo Cup night on Saturday at Lord's Raceway.
Earlier month winners for the Douglases have included Miss Tyler at Echuca on New Year's Day, Starvin Marvin at Maryborough on January 3, and a treble at Kilmore on January 6 with Pray Tell, Saviour Telf and Ozzie Battler.
A bright start to the new season for the central Victorian training ranks as a collective has garnered nearly 30 winners.
Fresh from a Group 1 victory on New Year's Eve with Parisian Artiste, Alex Ashwood is off and running in 2022 with three winners - La Serena at Kilmore on January 6 and Geelong on Wednesday, and Fashion Passion at Mildura on January 4.
Bendigo's Ellen Tormey has quickly raced to eight driving wins, her latest at Swan Hill aboard Glens Of Tekoa, who is trained by her father John Tormey at Charlton.
