Housed in the historic Dunolly Police Station building dating back to 1858, the new library was built thanks to contributions from teh state government and Central Goldfields Shire Council
Local government minister Shaun Leane joined the Central Goldfields members and the Dunolly Historic Precinct Committee to officially open the new library on Wednesday morning.
"It's exciting to launch this new library for Dunolly locals at the iconic heritage Police Station with support from the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program," he said.
"Libraries are about so much more than books and services like computer access - they foster learning and social connections and are a meeting place for the local community."
The new Dunolly library replaces the mobile library van service which the community was using and more resources, services, computer access and activities available to community members.
