In the latest Monthly Climate Summary released by the Bureau of Meteorology, data showed that rainfall across the state was 34 per cent below average.
Daytime temperatures were above average in a large area of north-west Victoria, while night-time temperatures were close to average across most of the state.
A slow moving low pressure trough brought thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rainfall to parts of central Victoria on December 1 and 2.
Despite this, Bendigo recorded a 27 per cent drop in average rainfall.
Bendigo observed 10.2mm of rainfall, the average is 38.2mm.
Charlton recorded one of its lowest December total rainfall amounts. The town observed just 9.0mm of rainfall, the average is 32.1mm.
Mean maximum temperatures were above average in most of the Mallee, Wimmera and Central districts.

The highest daily maximum temperature recorded in Bendigo was on December 31, with the city recording 37.5°C.
Statewide, the mean maximum temperature was 1.07 °C warmer than the December average.
Night-time temperatures were close to average across most of the state.
The Victorian mean minimum temperature was 0.35 °C above the December average.
Despite a below average rainfall total for December, BOM's annual climate statement revealed 2021 was the wettest since 2016, with states receiving rainfall up to 30 per cent above average thanks to unprecedented showers late last year.

Overall rainfall in Australia was nine per cent above average in 2021, with the wettest November registered since national records began in 1910.
