
BENDIGO premier division bowls returned on Saturday with a round of one-sided matches on the first leg of the weekend double-header.
Saturday's four games were decided by a combined 140 shots, with the closest of the contests being the 16 shots South Bendigo defeated Bendigo by in a battle between two clubs that have been impacted by COVID cases.

The Diggers won 86-70 at home with three rinks up, with Bendigo able to avoid a whitewash thanks to Grant Woodward's 23-16 win over Tom Lester.
Moama inflicted a fourth heavy loss in a row on Castlemaine, with the ladder-leaders impressing in a commanding 103-57 victory.
Moama won all four rinks for the first time this season in what was a strong tune-up ahead of its keenly-anticipated clash with South Bendigo the following day.

In other round eight games on Saturday, Eaglehawk hit back from consecutive losses before the break to easily account for Inglewood 94-56 at home.
The Hawks' thumping win was led by dominant performances from the rinks of Marc Smith (+21) and Dean Carter (+15).
And Bendigo East handed a 100-60 hiding to Golden Square to make it four wins from its past five games following a 0-3 start to the season.

Meanwhile, in Sunday's round nine games, Moama emerged victorious from its marquee match-up at home against South Bendigo.
Moama retained its unbeaten record with a 75-67 victory over the Diggers.
Both teams won two rinks apiece, with two of the contests decided by just three shots - South Bendigo's Tom Lester beating Paul Newcombe 19-16, while Moama's Brad Campbell defeated Luke Hoskin 20-17.
It was a superb performance by the rink of Campbell given Hoskin had gone into Sunday as the No.1-ranked skipper.

Eaglehawk recorded another big win for the weekend when it kept Bendigo winless.
In a game that was switched to Eaglehawk due to the closure of the Bendigo clubhouse, the Hawks prevailed 90-51 to cap a dominant weekend in which they won their two games by a combined 77 shots and earned 35 of a possible 36 points.
In Sunday's other games, Kangaroo Flat beat Castlemaine 94-79 and Golden Square bounced back to defeat Inglewood 84-75.
