The EVCA board made the decision on Thursday night to postpone Saturday's round seven matches, which comes on the back of the Bendigo District Cricket Association on Wednesday night pausing its season for two weeks.
At this stage the EVCA pause is only for this Saturday's matches, with president Ron Gray saying the board had been alerted to between 20 and 30 players in the competition currently isolating as COVID impacts on the region.
"We've received emails from some of our clubs letting us know they are struggling with cases and player availability, so we made the decision as a board last night to postpone this weekend's round of matches," Gray said on Friday.
"We've got five clubs with a mix of active cases and players awaiting results and in isolation.

"What's important is we want to do the right thing in terms of having a safe playing environment and for our clubs to be able to put competitive sides on the park, so that's why we've made this decision."
It's still to be determined if this weekend's matches will be re-scheduled later in the season or will be declared draws.
That will be one of the discussion points at a meeting on Monday night between the board and clubs.
Also to be discussed on Monday night will be whether the EVCA goes ahead with its two Twenty20 round three matches that are scheduled for Tuesday night.
* Saturday's postponed matches: Spring Gully v Marong, California Gully v Mandurang, Sedgwick v Emu Creek, United v Axe Creek. West Bendigo bye.
Meanwhile, as of Friday morning the Upper Loddon Cricket Association season was to resume from its mid-season break on Saturday.
Saturday is round seven of the ULCA with the two senior matches scheduled being Wedderburn v top-of-the-ladder Arnold and reigning premier Bridgewater v Boort-Yando from 1.30pm.
Kingower has the bye.
