The talents is an annual event that is run off a few simple rules - no BYO, no pets and no idiots.
Event coordinator Mark Anstey said the event aimed to bring joy and connection to the town.
"Castlemaine Idyll is an uplifting, collaborative community event which brings joy and connection to a wide cross section of our community," he said. "And in 2022, we are planning further avenues for community participation.
"Returning again will be our famous judges, great food and well-stocked bar - we will keep your gang, whether it's family or mates, entertained for hours."
The competition will take place on March 20 at the Lot 19 arts precinct in McShanag Drive with musical performances to centre around the theme "Chutzpah".
"Each contestant has our professional Castlemaine Idyll band backing them, and as always, a friendly crowd full of enthusiastic supporters. Performer places are in high demand each year," Mr Anstey said.
"Spectators can expect to see gutsy performances, brilliant singing and plenty of legends in the making. And if the last few years are anything to go by, I think we can expect plenty of great costumes."
Mr Anstey said the event will be continue to be run to COVID -safe guidelines including ticket-holders needing to be double-vaxxed.
"Safety of our community is paramount to the organisers of Castlemaine Idyll," he said.
