The BDCA season is scheduled to resume from its Christmas-New Year break this Saturday, with 12 of the 18 rounds still to be played following the delayed start to the 2021-22 competition due to COVID community sport restrictions.
At least three BDCA clubs cancelled their return training sessions on Tuesday night - Golden Square, Eaglehawk and White Hills - due to COVID concerns.
"The club is aware of an increase in COVID-19 cases in our area, so to ensure the health and wellbeing of all members, training for tonight will be cancelled," Eaglehawk informed players on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
Golden Square also posted a similar message on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
"To keep our members, supporters and families safe, the club has made the call to cancel tonight's training. Due to the increasing COVID cases in Bendigo and beyond it's better to be safe than sorry. We hope everyone stays safe and we look forward to getting back on the park soon."
Following its delayed November 13 start, the BDCA got through its first six rounds pre-Christmas without any COVID interruptions, but there are now several clubs dealing with both positive cases and players isolating while awaiting test results.
Tonight's meeting with the BDCA and its clubs to discuss the impact of COVID cases on the competition comes ahead of round seven that - should it proceed as scheduled - features White Hills v Eaglehawk, Sandhurst v Golden Square, Bendigo United v Strathdale-Maristians in the match of the round, Kangaroo Flat v Huntly-North Epsom and Bendigo v Strathfieldsaye.

Meanwhile, the Emu Valley Cricket Association resumes from its mid-season break this Saturday.
EVCA president Ron Gray said that as of this morning the association had received no notification from any of its clubs concerned by COVID affecting their capacity to field teams in this weekend's round seven matches.
"We're obviously concerned with the growing number of cases in the region, but we're taking it week by week at the moment," Gray said.

"Hopefully, clubs haven't recorded any cases; we want to keep the community safe and at this stage we believe we'll be going ahead as planned this weekend.
"No clubs at this stage have come to us and said they have been impacted."
This weekend's round seven EVCA matches are: Spring Gully v Marong, California Gully v Mandurang, Sedgwick v Emu Creek and United v Axe Creek.
Upper Loddon Cricket Association president Wendy Murphy said she expected the ULCA to resume as scheduled this Saturday with round seven.
"As of yet I haven't heard of anything different," Murphy said on Wednesday.
"No clubs have said they've been hit with any COVID issues."
Saturday's two ULCA matches are Wedderburn v Arnold and Bridgewater v Boort-Yando.
