An advice message has been sent out to the communities of Charlton, Yeungroon East, Yeungroon, Teddywaddy, Barrakee, Woosang about the fire on the Charlton-St Arnaud Road.
CFA have said firefighters were working to contain the fire that was heading in a northerly direction towards the Charlton township.
The fire has now been brought under control.
They have said there is no danger, but residents should stay informed as this could change.
Smoke may still be visible from nearby communities and roads so slow down for smoke or fire trucks and drive carefully.

Earlier
Crews are currently working to contain a fire near Charlton on Tuesday afternoon.
CFA was notified at 1.54pm to reports of a grass fire spreading on the Charlton-St Arnaud Road.
The fire is not yet under control and CFA are currently unable to determine the size of the blaze at this time.
The CFA vehicles are currently on scene with more enroute.
Air wing has been requested to help battle the blaze.
