All V/Line travel from regional Victoria to Melbourne will be free from 6pm on December 31, with no cost to return the next day.

Metropolitan and regional trains, trams and buses will be free from 6pm on New Year's Eve until 6am on New Year's Day.
No passengers will need valid myki passes during the free period of travel but those travelling on long distance V/Line services are being urged to book ahead.
Metropolitan trains and trams (except routes 78 and 82) will run all night.
People can head to five pre-booked "celebration zones" including at Alexandra Gardens, Treasury Gardens, Flagstaff Gardens, Docklands and the New Year's Street Feast.
There will be a drone swarm show in Docklands at 9.15pm and 11.30pm.
A normal weekday public transport timetable will be in place between 6pm and midnight on New Year's Eve, with additional services after midnight.
Metropolitan trains will run to a 15-minute frequency between midnight and 1am, a 30-minute frequency between 1am and 2am, and every hour from 2am.
On the tram network, most services will operate all night - running to a 15 to 20-minute frequency between midnight and 2am, and every 60 minutes from 2am.
City Loop stations will close at 2am on New Year's Eve, with all train services after that time departing from Flinders Street.
Most services will be running to a Saturday timetable on New Year's Day.
Passengers must wear a face mask on public transport and when travelling in taxis or ride share vehicles.
