A DONALD truck driver has been charged following a fatal collision on the Calder Freeway earlier this month.

It is believed a truck carrying grain collided with a number of vehicles near the Bulla Road overpass about 2.30pm on December 6.
A two-year-old Caulfield South girl, a rear seat passenger in a car carrying four people, died at the scene.
A 35-year-old man, a 37-year-old woman, and a one-year-old girl, from the same vehicle and all from Caulfield South, were taken to hospital.

The woman remains in hospital in a stable condition, while the man and girl have since been returned home.
A 62-year-old South Melbourne man driving a Toyota Hilux was trapped under the truck until freed by emergency services. He was taken to hospital and has since been released.
Two people in another vehicle escaped serious injury.
The truck driver, a 42-year-old Donald man, has been charged with culpable driving causing death.
He has been bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court in May next year.
