A FIRE has destroyed a car and come very close to homes this afternoon near Mia Mia.
It has also damaged what appears to be a shipping container.
Heathcote brigade captain Carl Watkins said the fire spread to 17 hectares in size before crews brought it under control.
Two helicopter teams and 15 road based appliances fought the fire in paddocks near to the Mia Mia township area, he said.
Mr Watkins expected firefighters to remain on scene for another three to four hours blacking out spot fires in paddocks.

FIREFIGHTERS have brought a fire south of Mia Mia under control.
Crews remain on scene and are blacking out spot fires.
The fire has burned roughly five acres, according to one estimate at the scene.
It has damaged what appears to be a shipping container and has come close to a house.
It is not yet clear whether the house has been damaged.
"People located within Mia Mia are now able to resume normal activities," a revised revised public advice message reads.

FIREFIGHTERS are battling windy conditions as they contend with a grass and scrub fire in Mia Mia.
At least two helicopters are on scene along with as many as 16 land-based fire crews as thick smoke blows through the area.
Firefighters are concentrating their public messaging on people living at the southern edge of the Mia Mia township, including those at the Blacksmiths Lane and Valley Road intersection.
Staying close to a building where you can shelter is the safest option, as conditions can change suddenly.

They have issued a "WATCH AND ACT - STAY NEAR SHELTER" message, which can be read below.
The fire is not yet under control and members of the public are being urged to keep checking emergency safety information on multiple online and media channels as it becomes available.

RESIDENTS are being ordered to stay near shelter as a bush and grassfire bears down on them at Mia Mia.
It comes as the number of fire crews being sent to - or arriving- at the scene swells to 12.
The fire is travelling northwards in the Valley Road vicinity.

There is a grassfire at Valley Rd, Mia Mia that is not yet under control.
This grassfire is travelling in a northerly direction towards Blacksmith Lane and McKindlay Street.
CFA have crews on scene attending to the fire.
Keep roads clear where possible.
Staying close to a building where you can shelter is the safest option, as conditions can change suddenly.
Continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.

- Monitor changes, including increased wind speed, change in wind direction, smoke or poor visibility that indicates the situation is changing.

MULTIPLE fire crews are converging on a bushfire travelling rapidly towards in Mia Mia, near Redesdale.
A handful of fire crews are already on scene and preparing to try to cut it off but many others are racing to the scene.
It is a rapidly unfolding situation.
Fire crews were originally told there were two separate fires but have since confirmed it is just one.
