POLICE say a man injured overnight is in a stable condition.
Initial police reports suggested the man may have had life-threatening injuries but have now confirmed he was not as badly injured as initially feared.
Investigators continue to look into the suspected assault and are yet to establish its circumstances.

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after police found him with head injuries in Eaglehawk overnight.
Officers were called to Victoria Street at about 10.50pm and found the man.
The 31-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police are yet to establish the circumstances behind the injuries and say the investigation is ongoing.
