I wish to register my dismay at the federal government and its decision to exclude Eaglehawk from the NBN fibre network roll-out in Bendigo.
The education and health sectors have been used in their promotion as examples of how beneficial the NBN would be. Why is my secondary college the only one to miss out?
Why spend millions of dollars to re-build ESC to a state-of-the-art facility (a ground breaker in the Victorian education system) only to keep its internet technology at such a basic level? The expanding Eaglehawk area is only six kilometres from the Bendigo CBD yet Big Hill, Junortoun and Strathfieldsaye have all been included (all with less population density). Why?
I urge all affected internet users to make their voices heard and bring all of Bendigo into the 21st century.
President, Eaglehawk Secondary College Council
