Emergency services were called to the scene at the corner of Mitchell and High Streets in the Bendigo CBD just before 8.30pm on Monday.

An elderly couple crashed their Toyota Camry into the clothing store after a P-plater ran a red light turning right onto Mitchell Street.

Hoo Gah café owner Gina Triolo also owns the damaged neighbouring store.

"I came down last night," she said.

"We got a call at about nine o'clock from the people leasing next door from us, saying 'a car had gone through the window but don't worry we're on top of it'.

"But then they called back and said actually there's a bit of damage to both stores."

A non-retaining wall separating the two stores was damaged by the car.

Though the wall has significant cracks, Ms Triolo said it's not a structural risk.

"It's not a load bearing wall," she said.

"It's not a structural thing, it compacted the ceiling a little bit.

"The insurance companies will come and assess it all and we'll take it from there"

Next year, Ms Triolo was planning on installing a café into the clothing store.

"I'm glad we haven't got that set up yet," she said, "imagine if we were open and had people sitting there."

Amazingly, no one was injured in the crash.

"Both parties are a bit shaken up," Bendigo Police Senior Constable Levina Bell said.

"It is very lucky."
