Racing from scratch, Buckell weaved his way around his rivals on the bell lap to claim victory in what was tagged "ride of the night" at the Tom Flood Sports Centre in Barnard Street.

Two of the club's young stars, Buckell and Nate Hadden (50m) went one-two as the consistent Justin Leske (160) again featured on the podium.

Next best were Ash Braszell (130), Ned Pollard (30) and Alessia McCaig (180).

The main event was sponsored by Peter and Julie Sens.

Racing for seniors began with the DCK Real Estate-sponsored Crystal Classic women's wheelrace.

Haylee Jack started from the 50m mark and powered to an impressive victory ahead of Montanna Collier (90), Lucy Hall (70) and Alaya Humber (60).

Other highs of Thursday's racing for seniors were Nate Hadden's win in the A-grade 10-lap scratch race; Alessia McCaig's win in the B-grade 8-lap scratch race and B-grade 12-lap points score.

The finale of the night was the A-grade 16-lap points score in which Isaac Hadden beat Nade Hadden by a point.

Track racing rolls on this Thursday at the Tom Flood Sports Centre from 6.30pm.

Feature event is the Red Fox Party & Bake Boss 1600m wheelrace.

The long-running DCK Real Estate-backed Crystal Classic women's wheelrace (1000m) is on the program, along with motorpace and scratch races for seniors.

Junior riders will line up in scratch and wheelraces.

Racing will play a key part in the build-up to the club hosting a leg of the Christmas Carnival series on Wednesday, December 29.

Meanwhile, multiple national track champion at junior level, Alessia McCaig has earned selection in AusCycling's Podium Potential Academy for track sprint.

McCaig and Bendigo clubmate Pat Eddy will move to Adelaide where Eddy is in the PPA's track endurance squad.

Other Bendigo stars in AusCycling programs are Jack Haig, Podium Potential Road; Ned Pollard in the Victorian Institute of Sport's track sprint, developing; and Blake Agnoletto, VIS track endurance, emerging.
