Trails & Ales Bendigo will be having their final event for the year and by the end of the day are hoping to raise more than $500 for the Children's Ward.
More news:
Team member Travis Edwards believed the group had already reached the $500 mark and were keen to add to it.
Trails & Ales was originally formed in Albury, NSW in 2017 with the idea of bringing together the growing local trail running community.
There are now three groups across Australia, including one in Bendigo.
"The idea is about that people come out, experience trail running and drink some beers from breweries all around Victoria," Mr Edwards said.
"We get the beers donated to us and from there, we make a donation.
Other news:
"The idea is that it doesn't matter if you have never run before or if you are athlete. We all stay together and nobody gets left behind and people have enjoyed that experience of running with a group."
Mr Edwards said the group started last May and has more than 20 members.
"It's been a good thing for people's mental health especially through the lockdowns, getting together, going for a run and socialisng has been important," he said.
More news:
Mr Edwards said the group would be tallying up all money it had raised over the past year on Saturday.
"We have a fair bit saved up now and we thought it would be really good to donate it," he said.
"We will do a beer mile on Saturday which involves us drinking a beer every mile and people will pay for that as a donation.
"We are all Bendigo people who meet and run every week so we really wanted to keep the money in the community."
