GREENS Lake will close for a 26-hour period over New Years for the eighth year in a row in order to keep the public safe, Goulburn-Murray Water has said.
GMW Water Delivery Services general manager Warren Blyth said the region's emergency services confirmed the lake should close and would not be accessible for recreational activities by members of the public.

"Emergency services employees echoed community concerns for public safety, so it is our duty to close Greens Lake to avoid any tragedies occurring over the New Year's holiday period," he said.
"We are again closing the lake for a short period over New Year's on this expert advice and in the interests of the wider community."
The lake will be closed to the public from 10am on Friday, December 31, 2021 to noon on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
