Bendigo Health chief executive Peter Faulkner said it was great to see locals continuing to be vaccinated.
"We are really hoping people will be able to take the opportunity to get the third dose when they are eligible," he said.
"So far so good, and we think 2000 is really good and we are happy with that number."
Mr Faulkner said health officials expected the first quarter of 2022 would be the peak demand period for booster shots.
"That's when we are going to start to see the demand and that's when the vast majority of the people will become eligible," he said.
Currently, Bendigo Health has the lease on the mass vaccination centre until April 2022.
Mr Faulkner said the board would enter into discussions with the centre's landlord in the coming weeks to extend the lease and anticipated Bendigo Health would be able to continue vaccinations past April.
In some more positive news, there are just seven people in Bendigo Hospital with COVID-19. None are in intensive care and none are on a ventilator.
"There is not a high number of hospitalisation and that tells us that the strategies that we have put in place as a society have really made a positive difference," Mr Faulkner said.
"As a streaming hospital, we take cases from across the Loddon Mallee region and we have seven people in hospital and those people come from across the region.
"In reality, that isn't very many, and with none in ICU, that's a good news story."
The vaccination centre will be closed from 1pm on December 24, 2021 to 11am January 4, 2022.
