GoFundMe's annual Year in Giving report shows Bendigo and Ballarat are one of the most generous based on donations per capita.

Tourist town in Queensland, Hervey Bay was been named Australia's most generous town, followed by Mackay and the NSW town of Wagga Waaga, which made the top 10 list for the third consecutive year.
Australia's top 10 most generous towns for 2021 are:
- Hervey Bay (QLD)
- Mackay (QLD)
- Wagga Wagga (NSW)
- Coffs Harbour (NSW)
- Mandurah (WA)
- Ballarat (VIC)
- Launceston (TAS)
- Albury-Wodonga (NSW)
- Bunbury (WA)
- Bendigo (VIC)
GoFundMe Australia Regional Manager Nicola Britton said the close-knit nature of these towns means calls for support are answered quickly and generosity can spread rapidly.
"The generosity shown by millions of Australians who donated or launched fundraisers on GoFundMe this year shows that the true Aussie spirit of backing those in need is stronger than ever, despite economic uncertainty," she said.

For Bendigo, the top GoFundMe pages for 2021 included, Please help Chloe, Curt and little Charlie and family, Supporting the Gee's and Help Flappers get well.
For Ballarat, their top pages included Supported by the family of Joel Moon, 16 in memory, Kerry's cancer fundraiser - urgent treatment and Fundraiser for Evie Andrews.
Ms Britton said top most generous towns are also some of the hardest hit areas in terms of revenue loss from tourism.
"The fact that these communities were still able to answer calls for help from others is nothing short of inspiring," she said.
