To be held at the Bendigo Golf Club, the GCV District Championships will see players from the region compete across a range of divisions - all in the name of supporting the Challenge foundation.
"We've been working tremendously hard during the past two months in the lead up to the championships," GCV secretary treasurer Russell McGibbon said.
"We'd planned to hold it earlier in the year, but we weren't able to so we then tentatively set a November 28 date and just had to wait and see what would happen.
"As it turns out the date was just about perfect."
Competition divisions include open categories for men and women, division two and three for higher handicap players and the battle for the club champion of champions title.
Competition aside, the day is equally about reuniting the Golf Central Victoria community together after a tough 18 months and raising money for Challenge.
Challenge supports families by helping provide teen camps, family outings, school holiday programs, art therapy, music therapy, massage therapy, date nights for parents, home help, toddler play group, concert and event tickets, music and education scholarship and holiday accommodation - all which are provided free of charge.
"While we were planning the championship we thought it would be ideal to help support a charity in the process," McGibbon said.
"Most of us walk around with Leuk the Duck pins on our hats so we decided to support Challenge.
Shepparton-born professional golfer Jarrod Lyle was an ambassador of the charity before he sadly passed away in 2018.
"Jarrod has been remembered as a phenomenal person within the Australian golf community and we couldn't have thought of a better foundation to support," McGibbon said.
The competition is being held at the Bendigo Golf Club - which has recently undertaken extensive work across its 18-hole layout.
"With all of the rain we've had, in addition to the work by volunteers and employees at the club - the course couldn't be in better condition," McGIbbon said.
"It will be a fantastic day."
The GCV District Championships are taking place this Sunday November 28 with the action teeing off at 12.30PM (12PM assembly).
