The rain is here to stay in NSW, with there are warnings of severe storms will hit NSW with heavy winds and rain, particularly in the northern parts of the state. Warnings have been issued in an area spanning west of Bourke to east of Inverell, and south of Scone and will reach down to Newcastle. The Bureau of Meteorology's Jane Golding said on Friday the landscape is already "quite sensitive" and floods remain a risk.

Travelling north, ten more people have been reported as COVID-positive in two remote Northern Territory communities. Chief Minister Michael Gunner is expected to provide more details about the outbreak on Sunday. The current cluster is about 31 people.
Rain and a media scrum have hampered cricketer's Tim Paine return to cricket on Saturday. Paine's return in Tasmania was delayed and ended with a tight-lipped walk through a media scrum. The cricketer stood down as test captain on Friday after it was revealed he sent a lewd text messages to a female colleague colleague in late 2017.
In royal news the Duchess of Cornwell has described herself and her husband as still "having a snap in our celery". On Thursday the Duchess and Prince Charles toured the pyramids at Giza and posed for photos in front of the Sphinx in Egypt. She stressed their foreign tours were working trips and not holidays.
Staying overseas, police have opened fire on protesters rioting against COVID-19 restricts in a Dutch city. Rotterdam city mayor described the scenes as an "orgy of violence". Two rioters are in hospital after being hit by bullets. It is yet to be established if the shots were fired by police. Officers arrested 51 people on Saturday afternoon, about half of whom were minors.
