
ONE of the youngest competitors in the field, Keelan McInerney capped a great run in Thursday night's first round of the Bendigo Athletics Club's distance series.
A newcomer to BAC, McInerney raced from a frontmark in the Bendigo Original Pie Shop-backed 800m at the Tom Flood Sports Centre in Barnard Street.

He stayed well clear of the chasing pack in the last 200m to score an emphatic victory ahead of Sebastian Rossi who motored home on the last lap and Kyle Hilson.
Racing in the red jacket as backmarker, Dan Ryan achieved fastest time of 2.28 minutes and was fourth.
Next best were last season's series winner Greg Hilson, long-time competitor and multiple BAC champion Rick Ermel, and club president Justine Babitsch.
Now in it's 35 th year, the Distance Series is run in conjuction with the Bendigo and District Cycling Club's track program.
Next Thursday's heat will be the A.L. Parker Electrical-sponsored 1000m from about 7.15pm.
The race will be followed by BYO drinks and nibbles in the Bendigo Athletic Clubrooms.
