Bendigo East Swimming Club is preparing to host its first major event in almost a year.
This Sunday approximately 70 of the club's swimmers - in addition to another 100 athletes from across the state - will converge on Bendigo East for a long course event.

BESC head coach John Jordan said the event provided juniors with the experience of competing within a major tournament.
"Our juniors will have the opportunity to see some of our older swimmers in action," he said.
"A lot of the senior swimmers compete at an Olympic trial level and for the younger members it will be their first time watching them compete."
The event focuses on longer distance events which will see juniors doing 50m races, while seniors will compete in 100m, 200m and 400m competitions.

Jordan said swimmers' preparation for the event differed to normal due to the nature of long distance swimming.
"They will certainly head into the event with more long distance training in the water," he said.
"We were quite fortunate in that we were able to train during parts of winter and we expect our swimmers to be able to do quite well this weekend."
The club is hoping to attract more members to its club, especially juniors, if you are interested in getting involved with BESC please visit https://www.facebook.com/bendigoeastswimmingclub/.
