It is hoped the broader community will join in by baking their own Solidarity Pancakes and sharing them via social media accounts with the hashstags #SolidarityPancakes and #PancakeSunday.

City of Greater Bendigo mayor Andrea Metcalf, Be.Bendigo interim chief executive Rob Stephenson and Bendigo Health Board chairman Bob Cameron, flipped some pancakes at the Bendigo hospital Friday morning to raise awareness of the initiative.

Mr Cameron said Bendigo Health was embracing the movement as a fun way to acknowledge the incredible effort of every healthcare worker as well as a chance to engage the many staff who are still working from home.

"We are so proud of our dedicated healthcare workers - be it on the frontline or working from home - and the pandemic has asked a lot of them," he said.

"Bringing them together over their kitchen tables this Sunday is a simple but strong sign of solidarity to one another."

To show appreciation of our local healthcare workers, the public is invited to cook pancakes for their family and friends this Sunday, November 14 and post photos using hashtags #SolidarityPancakes #PancakeSunday #GreensPancakes and tagging @BendigoHealth @GreensBakingAustralia.
