And to do that, staff have organised a school fair on November 19 to raise the $15,000 needed.
"The past two years have been a rollercoaster for everyone, but not in a fun way, which is why we decided that despite all the restrictions, we still wanted our kids to have a fun school fair and benefit from getting upgraded sporting facilities and equipment from any funds raised," SPS principal Cindi Bruechert said.
While COVID-19 restrictions were a major concern, the fair committee decided to use an innovative approach and has instead made the fair during school hours and moved all the fundraising efforts online by running a crowdfunding campaign and online raffle.
"The committee have worked hard to find a different way to make the day possible and have got the students involved in making a funny and engaging crowdfunding video, which was a great experience for all the students involved," Ms Bruechert said.
SPS Fair Committee chair Rebecca Soulsby said it was important to put a positive spin on the video.
"We decided to make the theme of the video very positive and it emphasises that although everyone has been through strange times, the students and our community have come out the other side stronger and still smiling," she said.

The school has now launched the crowdfunding campaign and is hoping to raise enough money to resurface their basketball court and purchase a few other sporting and sensory items for students.
Ms Soulsby said the school had a head start, thanks to the recent $10,000 donation from PRD Real Estate Bendigo.
"We put the call out to anyone who wanted to help us out and we are grateful for the donation from PRD Real Estate Bendigo," she said.
"It's been a great boost and we can't thank them enough for the support."
"We've got some great perks to offer, as well as a fantastic raffle because, what's a fair without a raffle?" Ms Souslby said.
Prizes include a $500 IGA voucher for first place, a $300 floral painting for second, a $300 Sutton Grange wine pack and more.
