Last month, the Master Builders Association of Victoria presented Merticon Homes with one of the industry's most prestigious awards for their work locally.

The Regional North West awards, which are held annually, showcase exceptional craftsmanship and standards of excellence in both the residential and construction sectors of the building industry.

Metricon's Delta display home in Strathfieldsaye - The Delta 29MR with a Peak facade - took out the hotly contested 'Best Volume Display Home $350,000-$500,000' category.

Metricon's Langdon display home in Moama was also acknowledged in the Regional North West awards, being judged the 'Best Volume Display Home in the $250,000-$350,000' section.

Metricon Homes' Manager, Regional North, Tania Tonks said the achievement was a testament to the outstanding homes the local team build in the area.

"The Delta and the Langdon have very appealing and smart floor plans, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and multiple living spaces, offering a lot of accommodation at affordable price points," she explained.

"The Delta is one of our most successful designs, this is the fourth award the design has received in Regional Victoria alone. It's the perfect family design with its master suite conveniently zoned to the back of the home, away from the other three bedrooms, offering privacy and room to grow for families.

"The outdoor room in the Delta flows seamlessly from the open plan kitchen and living area, creating perfect entertaining spaces."

Metricon was in the midst of an unprecedented number of new local builds. Tania says the success of the HomeBuilder scheme and lower interest rates have facilitated a surge in demand for new homes within the region.

In Bendigo, much of this demand is being fueled by savvy buyers, she says, keen to seize the opportunity to secure a new home away from the city.

With many organisations embracing working from home beyond COVID-19 restrictions, a home in the regions is now being viewed more favourably.

It is becoming increasingly evident, she says, that the concept of "location" is something customers are now looking at differently.

"The demographic shift in population towards regional locations and low interest rates will continue to drive demand for new homes in the Bendigo region and surrounding areas for months to come," she said, adding this was great news for the local economy.

"What many are surprised to learn is that Metricon's regional teams are comprised of local staff, site managers, service and warranty and trades, which means they too are part of the community where so many people are deciding to build beautiful new homes."

Tania says Metricon has a proud 45-year history of creating high quality homes for Australian families. Their success at the Regional North West awards is yet another chapter in that legacy.

"To receive this continued recognition for our workmanship, design and ongoing dedication to the highest standards, on and off the worksite, is a credit to our Regional North team," she said.

"We are always proud of our local team and the outstanding homes we build in the area."
