Police have confirmed the two people that were killed in a fatal crash Sunday night were local Heathcote residents.
A 47-year-old woman and 51-year-old man died at the scene of the accident, which occurred just after 6pm on the Northern Highway in Heathcote.

Bendigo Highway Patrol Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks said the investigation would be continuing.
"It is very sad that two people have lost their lives not far from where they live," he said.
"The (Heathcote) community is going to be really impacted by this along with their families and friends as well."

TWO people have been killed following a fatal crash in Heathcote.
Emergency services were called to Northern Highway about 6pm, Sunday night following reports a car had struck a tree.

The yet to be formally identified female driver and male passenger died at the scene.
The exact cause of the crash is being investigated and yet to be determined at this stage.
