AN ACCUSED drug trafficker who was arrested during a Huntly police raid has fronted court.

Steven Nieto, 34, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Thursday afternoon.

He has been charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, possessing proceeds of crime, dangerous driving while being pursued by police, possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing a controlled weapon, and other traffic offences.

Mr Nieto did not apply for bail. His lawyer said the 34-year-old was withdrawing from methamphetamine.

Mr Nieto was remanded in custody. He is due to return to the Bendigo Magistrates' Court in March next year.

A POLICE raid on a Huntly property has led to the alleged seizure of 13 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and the subsequent arrest of two Huntly men.

Police officers from multiple units in the Bendigo division executed the search warrant at the property on Wednesday.

Goornong Leading Senior Constable Darren Scherger said officers allegedly found 230g of methylamphetamine, $3930 in cash, a Holden motor vehicle, a motorcycle, laser pointers, 3D printers, steroids and several other substances yet to be analysed.

"This quantity of seized property isn't a regular thing," he said.

"In 27 years, personally, I have seen this high level of firearms being seized maybe two or three times.

"For me, in a small country town, I certainly haven't come across this in Goornong in the 10 years that I have been there."

Leading Senior Constable Scherger said the men also allegedly had their firearm licences suspended.

The two men arrested - a 34-year-old and his 31-year-old brother - were interviewed at length about alleged intentional high-risk driving in the Epsom and surrounding areas last month.

His younger brother has been released and is expected to be charged on summons with dangerous driving, possessing firearm silencers, improper storage of cartridge ammunition and possess methylamphetamine.
