Since Friday morning operational units have been led by the highway patrol to target driver behaviour that could lead to road trauma, including speed, distraction, fatigue and drink and drug driving.
Police have detected 205 offences in the western region, including seven impaired driving offences.
Senior Sergeant Brooks said the majority of offences have been detected in Bendigo however said it was expected as it was the largest population.
"The behaviour has been reasonable but in saying that having over 200 offences committed, is 200 too many," he said.
"There seems to be a little more patience from people but with the weather changing over the next week or so, we are encouraging people to drive to the conditions.
"Taking five or 10 km off your speed will still get you where you need to be safe."
In comparison to other areas, Senior Sergeant Brooks said the numbers were on par with surrounding regions.
"One positive for our area, thus far, there hasn't been a fatality and we hope to try and keep it that way," he said.
"We will still out now but we will be back out under the operation on Friday, with as many units as can on the road and focusing on ensuring people are getting to where they need to be safely."
Operation Compass ran from 12:01am on Friday, October 29 until 11:59pm on Tuesday, November 2 and will run again the following weekend, from 12:01am Friday, November 5 until 11:59pm on Sunday, November 7.
