Her extreme patience and perseverance was rewarded when the second-starter Snappy Secret sprinted to victory in the Kym Hann Racing Maiden Plate (1100m).
The three-year-old gelding was not far off breaking his maiden at his first start at Ballarat earlier in the month, but made sure of it the second time around with a polished effort with Patrick Moloney in the saddle.
Chapman, who picked up her second win of the season from just nine starters, could not have been more thrilled to have broken through on cup day.
"That was awesome," she said post-race.
"It was a great run, his first-up run, and we got held up at a crucial stage.
"The plan was to sit behind and hopefully run over the top of them again and that's that we did.
"I thought we were a bit too far back so I thought we weren't going to do anything today, but he's a big baby and he doesn't know what he's doing at the moment."
Chapman paid full credit to her husband Steve for identifying Snappy Secret - originally an $8000 purchase as a yearling - at the sales.
"My husband picked him out at the Ready To Run and we always go for these problem horses that have got throat issues and he was one of them," she said.
"We've given him plenty of time and it is paying off now."
It was the second time this month Chapman and Moloney have combined for a win.
The pair enjoyed success at Benalla on October 8 with Haystacks Calhoun, another galloper to have made his way to Kyneton following wind issues and finished seventh on cup day.
"Danielle is a terrific horsewoman. She does a good job with her small team," Moloney said.
"She gets a lot of horses that are broken-winded and rectifies that. She did the same with this horse. He's got a little wind issue but he's pretty sound otherwise.
"He's a nice promising horse.
"I reckon he should have won his first start, admittedly. He's just not the sharpest out of the gates and we got ourselves in a slowly run race and got out late and whooshed home.
"I said after that wherever they go next he'll win. I said that they should put him in on Bendigo Cup day.
"Up against the colts I thought 'maybe not today', but he showed it.
"Danielle has a lot of faith in him and a lot of faith in me. It was pretty soft in the end."
Double for McNeil
MELBOURNE Cup-winning jockey Jye McNeil ended Wednesday with a flurry, notching up a race-to-race double in the final two events on the program
The 26-year-old's wins on the Archie Alexander-trained Saccharo and Maybe The Best (Anthony and Sam Freedman) helped soothe the blow of just being beaten in the day's feature event by his good mate Harry Coffey on Wentwood.
McNeil, who partnered the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Smokin' Romans into second place in the cup, was nonetheless happy with the progressive stayer's performance.
"It was a steady enough day for me. I had nice rides and I'm glad it all came together here," he said after his win on Saccharo.
"I'm as rapt as I can be for him (Harry) when you get beat. We're best mates so it's good that when you can't win, he can."
Both jockeys finished with doubles, with Coffey's win early in the day aboard the Kym Hann-trained Royal Tyke adding to his emotional cup victory
McNeil insisted there was plenty of upside in Maybe The Best, whose benchmark 70 win delivered the four-year-old mare her second career win.
The daughter of I Am Invincible has not finished outside the top two in all five of her starts.
"I was very happy with the way she found her rhythm and relaxed underneath me." he said.
"Obviously it wasn't the choice to roll forward but it worked out alright and I think she's got that upside to go through the grades."
