The Bendigo hobby trainer will saddle up her much-loved five-year-old gelding in the benchmark 64 over 1100m (race 6), with the in-form Logan McNeil - fresh from a double at Echuca last Friday - to take the ride.
In a training career spanning roughly 15 years, it will be only the second time Wicks has had a runner on her hometown cup day.
Her first My Boy Greg - by the same sire as My Boy Nick in Reward For Effort - finished out of the placings in the opening race in 2017, the same year Qewy dashed to victory in the Group 3 Bendigo Cup.
A winner of four of 24 starts, My Boy Nick will be third-up from a spell and has had the one trial since his last start at Geelong in mid-September,
The 1100m specialist's last preparation was his best, culminating in three wins and three placings from 10 starts.
Wicks, who has scratched My Boy Nick twice in recent weeks due to unsuitable tracks, is looking for a competitive showing.
"If he brings his A-game he'd be up there with them, but really we're just crossing our fingers and hoping," she said,.
"He's run some good races and when he is on his mark he goes really well.
"In saying that, he's only had two starts this time in and it does take a bit of time to wind him up some times."
With nearly a dozen Bendigo trainers represented across the nine races on cup day, Wicks would like nothing better than to see a few of them experience some success.
"It's a bit of a thrill for the local trainers having a runner on cup day, especially us smaller trainers," she said.
"It would be an even bigger thrill to get a win."
