Neil Pharaoh received the prize after signing up for the Million Dollar Vax Campaign.
A group of philanthropists and corporations created the campaign with the aim to drive national vaccination rates above 80 per cent.
"I was vaccinated so I applied and thought nothing of it," Mr Pharaoh said. "I've never won anything of any merit before so I thought it was a joke when I won. Then a $1000 gift card arrived in the mail."

Mr Pharaoh used the vouchers to buy a brand new wardrobe.
But the Kyneton resident said while the reward for being vaccinated was nice after a challenging two years, it was not the reason he rolled up his sleeve.
"Getting vaccinated is just the right thing to do for my family, my friends, and my community," Mr Pharaoh said.
"For me, it's about being able to see family and friends, and to have a normal life again. It's the one thing we can all do.
"There are a million good reasons to get vaccinated."
The Kyneton resident is also in the running to receive $1 million, with the winner to be drawn on November 5.
"I won't count my chickens before they've hatched," Mr Pharaoh said. "But I would definitely be looking at a holiday if I won. I would also give some money to family and friends."
Mr Pharaoh encouraged others to sign up for the Million Dollar Vax Campaign before entries closed on October 31.
