LAWN bowlers must be fully vaccinated or have an approved medical exemption if they are to participate in Bendigo Playing Area events this season.
And spectators will also have to be fully vaccinated if they want to watch games.
The vaccine mandate that was announced the board of the newly-formed Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Region on Friday night will cover all pennant, state and region events this season.
"All players and spectators must be fully vaccinated or hold an approved medical exemption," the board wrote to clubs.
"If a bowler has not been vaccinated or hold an exemption (medial certificate) he/she cannot play.
"State event entries will only be accepted from fully vaccinated bowlers at the closing date of the event.
"Masks must be worn, but may be removed while actually bowling or while giving or receiving instructions during play and social distancing requirements continue to apply."
All clubs must have a COVID marshal on duty on days of play to ensure the vaccination policy is being adhered to.
With community sport still on hold until Victoria reaches 80 per cent of 16+ people having been fully COVID vaccinated, the first of the Bendigo Playing Area pennant competitions - the weekend pennant premier division one - will start on November 6.
The premier division one competition has been expanded to 18 rounds following the admission of Moama as a ninth team.
While competition can't begin yet, clubs can train in accordance with Bowls Victoria guidelines.

Meanwhile, vaccination statuses will not impact the capacity for cricketers to take to the field this coming season.
"The Victorian state government has confirmed that your vaccination status will not impact your ability to play, coach or umpire in outdoor cricket this summer," Cricket Victoria wrote in its latest COVID-19 update.
"More information will be provided ASAP by the Victorian state government regarding whether unvaccinated people can access indoor social rooms and changerooms."
Cricketers in the region though still have a wait before they can hit off their 2021-22 seasons.
The Bendigo District, Emu Valley and Upper Loddon cricket association seasons are all set to start on Saturday, November 13.
Once indoor and outdoor community sport can begin at the 80% of 16+ fully vaccinated mark, public gathering limits will still apply for spectators.
However, once Victoria hits 90% of 12+ fully vaccinated, expected around November 24, there will no longer be gathering limits.
