The Kate Hargreaves-trained gelding will take his place among a quality field of 12 square gaiters in the $25,000 Group 3 Maryborough Trotters Cup (2690m).
Well Defined - one of three horses off 20m along with Aldebaran Crescent and Red Hot Tooth - will be one of two runners in the race for Hargreaves, who also has the outsider of the field in Beau Garcon engaged.
A $16 chance in early betting, Well Defined will be having his fourth start from a spell, his most recent a fifth placing behind the ultra-impressive The Penny Drops in last month's Group 3 Kilmore Cup.
The top-three placegetters from that race, including the runner-up Robbie Royale and Kyvalley Chief (both trained by Brent Lilley), will all be fronting up in Maryborough, as will the Rodney Hughes-trained Just Believe, who resumed from a near six-month break with a powerhouse win at Bendigo on October 2.
They will be joined off 10m by the Chris Svanosio-trained Brandlo Prince and Havehorsewilltravel for Andy Gath.
Well Defined, winner of the Ararat, Terang, Boort, Wangaratta and Mildura cups, will be driven by his regular partner Ellen Tormey, while Shannon O'Sullivan takes the steer on Beau Garcon.
Meanwhile, hopes of a Bendigo region win in the $35,000 Maryborough Gold Cup will lie solely with Julie and Glenn Douglas with their four-year-old Would You Mind.
Another top-notch field for the Group 3 pacers feature is headed by Dean Braun's impressive recent Bendigo winner Willie Go West, Malcolms Rhythm from the stable of 2021 Victoria Cup-winning trainer David Aiken, Emma Stewart's five-year-old Our Millionaire, who is the early favourite at $2.80, Bulletproof Boy (Scott Ewen) and the Andy Gath-trained pair Wolf Stride and Diamonds N Cash.
Would You Mind will be backing up from an unplaced effort behind Jean Luc on Victoria Cup night, when his chances all but evaporated after he was checked and broke at the start and spent much of the trip three-wide.
