Federal government data released late Monday shows 93 per cent of eligible residents aged 15 and over in the Heathcote, Castlemaine and Kyenton statistical region had received at least one jab, with the community now reaching the 90 per cent threshold.
More news:
Heathcote Primary Health has vaccinated over 2,245 local community members as part of the Commonwealth Vaccination Program.
Heathcote Health chief executive Dan Douglass said the community had listened to the advice and guidance provided by the health professionals.
"The high level of vaccine uptake in our region is a clear reflection of people's confidence and trust in the information and vaccines being provided to them," he said.
A key focus for Heathcote Primary Health and Heathcote Health has been to ensure the highest possible vaccination rates for vulnerable community members, aged care residents and healthcare and aged care workers and volunteers.
Mr Douglass said they had invested heavily in the vaccination programs to ensure our community is safe and protected.
"We want to ensure our biggest asset - our people - are safe and will be as protected as possible in preparation for outbreaks and the relaxation of restrictions into the future," he said.
"The Heathcote Community can be reassured that all staff working on site at Heathcote Health and Heathcote Primary Health have received their first dose of vaccine and staff working on site who have not yet received their second dose will be fully vaccinated shortly.
"We are thankful of the community support for our two organisations and we will continue to work together, and with our community, to achieve the Victorian Roadmap vaccination targets, and provide high quality and safe health services to the Heathcote and district community."
Managing Director of St Anthony Family Medical Practice, which operates as Heathcote Primary Dr Adel Asaid said community members are still able to discuss the vaccine process with their local GP.
"We wish to confirm to the community that we are still available to discuss the vaccines at any stage you may find yourself in this process - pre-vaccination, partially vaccinated or fully vaccinated - our information is trusted, truthful and scientifically based."
